Who qualifies
Eligible recipients are Canadian not-for-profit organizations (corporations, trusts, cooperatives or unincorporated associations), Canadian for-profit organizations whose projects are non-commercial in nature, Canadian public education establishments, and provincial/territorial and municipal governments and their institutions. Federal departments, their institutions and portfolio agencies, private individuals and political parties cannot apply. Projects must be conceived and take place in Canada, relate to an anniversary of national significance (25th, 50th, 75th, 100th or subsequent in 25-year increments), include an educational component, be national in scope, and be free and accessible to the public. Ineligible: projects abroad or local in scope, commemorations of living individuals, fairs and festivals, major infrastructure projects, lobbying, fundraising or commercial/profit activities, and ongoing operations of the applicant.
