Ontario Renovates (under Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative)
Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing / municipal service managers
Not stated on the official Ontario pages; amounts are set locally by service managers
Ontario Renovates is a component of the Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative (OPHI), delivered locally by municipal service managers. It funds repairs and rehabilitation to bring a home or unit to an acceptable standard while improving energy efficiency; an older Ontario Works directive describes the assistance as a forgivable loan available only in municipalities.

Who qualifies
Set locally by each municipal service manager or Indigenous program administrator, which choose which OPHI components to run. Home Repair assists low and moderate-income homeowner households with accessibility modifications; Multi-Unit Rehabilitation assists landlords of eligible rental buildings and community housing providers.
Good to know
- Funding: Province-wide OPHI funding declines to $22.0 M in 2027-2028 (provincial funding only), per Ontario's third NHS action plan.
- Notes: Per-household amounts are set locally and are not on any official provincial page read. The forgivable-loan wording comes from an Ontario Works policy directive (page updated April 14, 2026) that still refers to the earlier IAH-Ontario Renovates name.
