Up to $170K
Business Growth and Competitiveness: generally up to 50 percent of eligible supported costs, generally repayable. Community Economic Development: generally up to 33 percent of eligible capital and up to 50 percent of eligible non-capital costs. FedNor's NODP funds community economic development, SME business growth and a municipal/First Nation economic-development-officer initiative (CIINO) in Northern Ontario. Eligible applicants differ by stream; SMEs get mostly repayable contributions while communities and non-profits can get non-repayable support. Budget is currently limited due to high demand.

Who qualifies
Business Growth and Competitiveness: incorporated SMEs, including Indigenous businesses, with fewer than 500 employees (priority possible for manufacturers/value-added firms in mining supply, forestry, clean tech, bioeconomy, agri-food); retail/wholesale, construction, tourism and service-based businesses are not eligible; need about two years of operations and financial capacity to repay. Community Economic Development: not-for-profits, Indigenous communities and organizations, municipalities and municipal organizations. CIINO: rural municipalities, Indigenous communities/organizations, or CFDCs for several communities, without a full-time economic development officer. Project benefits must accrue to Northern Ontario.
Good to know
- Funding: Cost share varies by stream. CED applicants are expected to contribute a minimum of 10 percent of project costs. The $170,000 maximum applies only to CIINO regional projects. Contributions are normally repayable where projects generate profits.
- Notes: Amounts are 'generally' ceilings; no overall per-project dollar cap is stated for BG&C or CED.
