Provides research infrastructure funding for newly recruited Canada Impact+ Research Chairs and Emerging Leaders, part of the Canada Global Impact+ Research Talent Initiative to attract top international researchers to Canada. The CFI was allotted $400 million for the fund.

Who qualifies
Institutions apply on behalf of chairholders they recruit through the Canada Impact+ Research Chairs program; the CFI does not fund individual researchers. The CFI funds up to 100 percent of a project's costs, so matching funds are not required.
